Teacher Rita has been asked to re-build and fire LUAL, a sculptural birthing kiln that she built at the grounds of UP College of Fine Arts (UPCFA). It was fired in a performance firing to assert the metaphor, kiln firing is birthing.

LUAL is a Kiln Art, wherein the kiln is a sculpture and the firing a performance art. It is considered a first in Philippine Art History and for her pioneering endeavours in this research and creative work; she was conferred with an Academic Distinction by her colleagues at UPCFA and also garnered for her the UP Centennial Professorial Chair Award 2013 and the UP Artist Award 2013-2016.

We hope to see you all next summer 2016!
